Green Brief #79

By Codeman177 – http:/twitter.com/codeman177

Since Niteowl has started posting on his own blog, I have asked if I could begin publishing the Green Brief so that everyone on wwp would once again have a summary of the day’s news from Iran. I like Niteowl have gotten all of my information from reliable tweets and no information I could not confirm has been included in this brief.

Protests/unrest

1. Mir Hossein Mousavi issued his first statement since the bloody protests on Sunday. In his statement he criticized the brutal confrontation between the pro-government forces and the reformist mourners. Mousavi then offered a five stage resolution to end the conflict.

2. Mousavi’s stages are 1) the acceptance by the administration, the Parliament, and the judiciary of direct responsibility for recent events, 2) a transparent law for elections that can create public trust, 3) release of political prisoners restoring their dignity and…

SECRETS OF KHAMENEI’S LIFE: More details revealed

Khamenei’s catchphrase for the past twenty years has been, ‘Do this, but don’t let the people find out’ or ‘Do that, but make sure no one finds out.’… all the power of the Leader’s Household depends on keeping the people ignorant of the secrets of Mr. Khamenei’s life and the behind-the-curtains activities of the Leader’s office.

The close guards, who consist of 200 individuals and who witness the trips and life in the palace, each possess a home worth one billion toumans ($1 million). Anyone who considers Khamenei to be pious and who lead austere lives themselves is not permitted past the first ring of guards less they become (disillusioned).

(Khamenei’s wife) has little patience for the daily groveling of the people. More than anyone, she says that the Iranian people are fawning liars and traitors.

Nuclear energy is not a problem. Are you aware of how we generate electricity in Iran? We use combustion turbines, which is both inefficient and pollute. Any alternative to burning a quarter of our gas reserves to generate electricity is welcome in my opinion.

Terrorism is not a problem. Iran has not engaged in a war since it was forced to protect her borders against Saddam. It is true that Iran supports militias in order for these groups to serve Iran as proxies, but what country doesn’t? It is only sensible for a country of Iran’s size to gain regional influence this way instead of direct confrontation with neighboring governments.

The biggest problem Iran had pre-islamic-revolution was the literacy rates. It is shocking how a civilization that founded literature (jiroft inscriptions proves it) were deduced to illiterates just 30 years ago with literacy rates below 50 percent! This is one of the few issues that the theocratic regime in Iran has dealt with. Today literacy…
