Following the rise of the Ahmadinejad government to power in 2005 and the formation of a homogeneous rule by the hardliners, the Iranian economy has been on a path of decline. In the period between March 2009 and March 2010, the economy experienced a stagflation as a result of the worldwide economic decline, the government’s hostile foreign policy, the unstable socio-political situation within the country following the announcement of the tenth presidential election in June 2009 and the decline of the business environment. Based on figures released by the Iranian central bank, it can now be said that the economy during that period, was “crippled.”
