You’ve heard it alot on TV, but what does it actually mean
According to a Google search (define:sanction):
Quote:
* formal and explicit approval; "a Democrat usually gets the union’s endorsement"
* approve: give sanction to; "I approve of his educational policies"
* a mechanism of social control for enforcing a society’s standards
* give authority or permission to
* give religious sanction to, such as through on oath; "sanctify the marriage"
* the act of final authorization; "it had the sanction of the church"
|
A sanction is approval to do something. For example "sanctions for money laundering" would mean we’re giving you formal (official) approval to money launder.
Hope everyone learned something :o
